- 1X2
- A betting market where you choose the home win (1), draw (X), or away win (2).
- Acca
- Short for accumulator, a single bet that combines multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Arbitrage
- A situation where you bet on all possible outcomes across different bookmakers to guarantee a profit.
- Asian Handicap
- A spread that gives a fictional advantage to the underdog and a disadvantage to the favorite, making odds closer to 50/50.
- Banker
- A selection expected to win easily, often used as a safe leg in an accumulator.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money a bettor sets aside for placing bets.
- Bookmaker
- The company or platform that sets odds and accepts bets on sporting events.
- Both Teams to Score
- A bet on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, securing a profit or limiting a loss.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes in a match, such as home win or draw.
- First Goal Scorer
- A bet on which player will score the first goal in a game.
- Half-Time/Full-Time
- A bet that predicts the result at half‑time and again at the full‑time whistle.
- Hedge
- Placing a bet on the opposite outcome to reduce risk or guarantee a profit.
- In-Play
- Betting on a match after it has started, with odds that change as the game progresses.
- Juice
- The commission, also called vig, that a bookmaker charges for taking a bet.
- Kelly Criterion
- A formula that calculates the optimal fraction of your bankroll to wager based on your perceived edge.
- Lay Bet
- Betting that an outcome will NOT happen, typically offered on betting exchanges.
- Line
- The set of odds or point spread offered for a particular betting market.
- Matched Betting
- Using free bets and lay bets to create a risk‑free profit by covering all possible results.
- Odds
- The number that reflects how likely an outcome is and determines how much you can win.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a match will be higher or lower than a set figure.
- Parlay
- Another name for an accumulator, a bet that links several selections and requires all to win for a payout.
- Spread
- In Asian Handicap, the difference between the two teams’ goal advantages used to balance the odds.
- Stake
- The amount of money you put on a bet.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true chance of the outcome, giving an edge to the bettor.
